Confidence can seem like life’s ultimate elixir. Yet, it isn’t only for a select few. Unlock your inner goddess and be more confident with these powerful actions.
Feeling inadequate or self-conscious can cause chaos with your emotions. Not only are both thought patterns destructive, but they’re incredibly bad habits to adopt. As easy as it is to let the negative self-talk take over, when you wish you could be more confident, it’s all got to stop.
But you know that, don’t you? That’s why you’re here. You’re hoping that, as you turn over a new leaf, you’ll be able to build up a brand new level of confidence to coat it. And you can. You just need to take action. Because that’s the thing about cultivating confidence, you have to, do not think.
To help you kickstart your crusade, here are seven powerful actions that allow you to be more confident.
1. Choose Positivity
Negativity and confidence do not go hand in hand. The former prevents the latter from actually forming. And so, it’s essential that you opt to choose positivity time and time again. It can take a while, but allowing yourself to push past your limiting beliefs and embrace a positive mindset can work wonders.
Practising positive affirmations to change the dialogue, and as much as a cliché as it can seem, surrounding yourself with positivity is important too. But rather than pretending that the negativity doesn’t exist, you’ll acknowledge it – along with all of the emotions you experience. And eventually, you’ll learn to move on from them.
The more positivity you possess, the more confident you’ll feel in yourself.
2. Face Your Fears
Negativity is nasty, but there’s one thing that can be a whole lot worse – and it’s usually connected. Self-doubt can really set you back. But when you want to be more confident, you’ve got to remove it. And the way to do it, is to understand where you doubt yourself and why. Breaking it all down allows you to remove the barriers.
When you know that you are in control, not your thoughts or fears, it’s much easier for you to believe in yourself. Fear is irrational. It’s essentially your emotions dictating your actions, when it needs to be the other way around. Yet when you decide to face your fears, it’s easier for you to believe in yourself. And it’s this part that’s important, because if you can’t believe in yourself how can you expect anyone else to?
3. Be Curious
Confidence can seem like a shield. A coating that has the power to bring happiness and health and the opportunities you’ve always dreamt of. One thing that will get you one step closer is curiosity. When you’re more interested in the world, in learning things, in growing, it’s easier to forget the negativity and the doubts and feel more comfortable.
Just think about it. The more active your mind is and the more open to new ideas you are, the more confident you’ll become. As you find your feet with taking action, it’s much more possible for you to be more confident. But to do that, you do have to act on these ideas, not just plan. It’s the execution that’s the pivotal point.
4. Invest In Yourself
Knowledge equals confidence. At least, when you decide that you’re actively interested in learning, it’s much easier to feel confident in yourself and your abilities. And this can work across the board. In life or your career, when you want to grow or get ahead, you can. But you have to commit.
By investing in your knowledge and really pursuing your strengths, your confidence grows. It’s like watering seeds. The more time, energy, and resources you invest in yourself, the competent and confident you become.
5. Go After Your Goals
When you picture your confident self, she’s not just confident she’s successful too, isn’t she? And there’s one key action that confident, successful women will always take – goal setting. Deciding to set goals and confidently going after them allows even the smallest amount of confidence to grow.
As you decide what you want, take a step closer to any of the goals you set, and celebrate your wins as and when they come, you’ll see exactly how it works. Goal getting is infectious. Before long, you’ll realise that putting yourself out there and getting what you want is the ultimate confidence booster.
Nobody else is going to do that for you. You don’t need approval. To be confident and successful, you just have to decide to do it for yourself.
6. Love Yourself
As you start to realise that you don’t need permission to go after what you want, it’s easier to be more confident. And just like you don’t need approval, you don’t need external validation to feel confident either. It’s something that you have to draw upon yourself. One of the quickest ways to make this happen is to love yourself first.
When you know your worth, it’s impossible to doubt yourself. It’s not that you have to be perfect, but the opposite. Embracing who you are – how you are, and becoming confident in your own skin is such a powerful way to grow in confidence.
7. Say No
Something that is sure to kill your confidence is living for other people. Or trying too hard to please them. Or even letting yourself get taken advantage of. When you’re constantly doing thing that are not in line with your goals, it can feel soul destroying. But when you choose the opposite, it’s enlightening. Saying no can open the door to that.
It’s not about being rude or letting others down, but appreciating your ability to say no when things aren’t quite a right fit for you. When you say no to things that aren’t in line with your vision, you make more room for things that are – including confidence.
