Managing The Move To A New Workspace

Whether you’re expanding your offices and need space for additional workers, moving closer to your target market, or simply want a more prestigious address, there are plenty of good reasons to move the workspace. When you do it, however, you want to ensure that you manage it as effectively as possible to avoid interrupting the workflow as much as possible.

Get the move established

When you have the keys to your new place, or know the date that you can get them, get in touch with commercial movers and let them know that you’re going to need their services. Consider any additional moving equipment they might need to bring and start packing up the office as soon as you have the date set up, leaving only the essentials out.

Let your clients know in advance

If you have clients that you need to check in with on a regular basis or keep yourself open to, then it’s a good idea to inform them in advance of the move. You want to do this when you have a concrete beginning and end of the moving process. Don’t forget to set up any out-of-office emails that you might need to with the information on when you will be back to normal, work-wise.

Move it in phases

Trying to move the entire office at once might not always be the most practical answer. Sometimes, you want to keep a skeleton set up in the old office to make sure that phone lines are still active. The right storage can make sure that you have a place for the assets that you’re not yet ready to move into the new office. You can even keep things there that you might want to sell, but want to ensure that you get a good price for.

Keep employees busy

You can enlist your employees to help you with the move, of course, but there may be a time when you’re between offices for a day up to a week. When that happens, allowing your employees to work flexibly from home can make sure that they’re able to offer as much productivity as possible, even when they’re not able to complete all of their usual duties.

Suit the new space to fit your needs

When moving into a new workspace, you might want to do more than simply recreate the setup that you already had, but with more space. You can really inspect how you organize the premises to create a more positive and collaborative work environment for your employees. This can include switching to more modular spaces that allow your team to switch between privacy and collaboration as and when they need it. You can also take the time to properly style the new place so that it best fits the brand and kind of professional work culture that you need.

With the tips above, you should hopefully be able to manage a workspace move a little more easily. It’s a big step, so ensure that you’re as prepared for the process as possible before you start kicking off any plans.
