With so many jobs asking for years of experience before they will even entertain an application, finding one that pays well while not requiring a resume laden with relevant work experience may seem impossible. We are here to tell you that it definitely is possible; you just need to evaluate your skills and how you can utilize them. Here are 18 jobs that pay great while not needing any experience to start. 

Truck Driver

Driving a truck is perfect for people who love to travel and are able to handle the responsibility of sticking to a tight schedule. The average salary for a truck driver is $108,367. You will need a commercial driving license, but once you have one, there is plenty of opportunity to get on the road and start earning. There will be long periods of time when you are alone, and the ability to concentrate for long periods of time is essential. Still, for a job that requires little experience, the earning potential is unmatched.

Translation

If you speak a language other than English, freelance translation is an area you should consider. Work can be found through freelancing websites; businesses also need their websites to be translated for a more global market, so it's worth contacting them and offering your services. Legal and medical translation is especially lucrative, so you have the option to expand into these areas when you have more experience.

Freelance Writer

Writing skills are always in demand, and experience is often not essential. If you have a way with words, you can monetize it through content writing, SEO articles, or blog writing. SEO is an ever-changing field, but it is very well paid if you are able to consistently adapt and produce work that performs well on search engines. Content writing is the best option to start out with while you improve your writing skills; as you build a client base, your earnings will increase, and you can move into other areas.

Realtor

This is a role which suits those with excellent negotiation skills and the ability to sell. You will be required to spend a period of time being a junior, but if you’re willing to learn, you can very quickly start bringing in good money. Salaries in the property sector are heavily reliant on commission; once you know what you’re doing, the sky’s the limit when it comes to earnings. There are usually no requirements other than having a high school diploma. 

Electrician

To become an electrician, you will need to complete an apprenticeship where you learn the trade. Once you have done this, you can go and find work on your own or even start a business. With an average salary of $64,000 a year, it is a trade with great earning potential, and it is an industry that provides consistent work

Police Officer

Becoming a police officer usually requires no more than a high school diploma. With a starting salary as high as $103,116, as well as an excellent pension scheme, it’s a job which can set you up financially for life. You will be providing a public service, and the longer you serve, the more opportunity there will be for promotion and a higher salary.  

Telemarketer

The recent proliferation of AI gave rise to predictions that the telemarketing business was soon to die out. Such predictions were wrong and too quickly dismissed the human element involved in sales. If you are persuasive and good with people, you can take advantage of this without having any prior experience. Businesses exist to sell products and they need people who are good at selling them so it is an industry which relies on a consistent flow of good salespeople. 

Delivery Driver

Perhaps not a job associated with high pay, but with so many online shopping and food delivery services now available, drivers are in high demand, and you can actually earn well. It’s a job for those who are responsible and able to manage their time as pay is usually dependent on the number of deliveries made. There are generally no entry requirements other than having a car or bike license. In some cities, you can use a bicycle to complete deliveries.  

Flight Attendant

If you love to travel, you can combine it with working by becoming a flight attendant. Requiring minimal qualifications, you just need to pass a selection process before beginning training. Being a flight attendant comes with many perks aside from the salary, such as discounted flights and free accommodation while you are working. You will also have the opportunity to go to places you would have never otherwise thought of going to.  

Bartender

If you can make a mean cocktail, you could be getting paid for it. You don’t necessarily have to be able to make a cocktail, either. Bars always need staff and will train you up. As well as your base salary, you can make a lot more through tips from customers and potentially move on to more high-end bars where your salary will continue to increase. There are usually no entry requirements other than being over the age of 21. 

Security Guard

Security, especially night security, is very well-paid and always in demand. Regulations require that you become accredited before starting work, but experience is not necessary. You will need to be good with people and responsible, but aside from those personal skills, you will do much of your training on the job.

Veterinary Assistant

Liking and being good with animals is an obvious necessity, but you will also have to be good with people and be able to perform a multitude of tasks. Being a veterinary assistant can be messy work and will, at times, be emotionally difficult. However, they are well paid for their efforts, and usually, there are no requirements in terms of education, although a high school diploma will help. You’ll also always be learning on the job. 

Tutor

Although it depends on what you want to tutor, you won’t usually need much more than a high school diploma to start. There are always students looking for a tutor to better their grades, and if you have the knowledge and people skills, you can make a good income. The average tutor earns $24.04 an hour, but if you have specialist knowledge, you can make a lot more. As your number of clients increase, so will your reputation and earning potential.  

Graphic Designer

For some graphic design jobs, a bachelor’s degree will be needed, but for many others, a high school diploma will suffice. The most important factor is having a strong portfolio which exhibits your work. The stronger your portfolio, the more chances you have to gain high-paying work. Graphic designers are very much in demand, so it is worth spending time on improving your skills and showing off your projects. 

Travel Agent

It’s a myth that travel agents have disappeared due to the Internet providing most of their services. People still want a personal touch when they are making the decision to part with their money, especially when it comes to high-end holidays. Travel agents have a base salary but earn commission on the holidays and flights they sell; this can be a considerable amount when selling to wealthy clientele. You won’t need much more than to have graduated from high school and a knack for sales.  

Laborer

A job for those who are physically fit, but it’s one where there’s a monetary payoff for your exertion. Construction companies are always looking for laborers to assist their tradesmen, and it’s an industry where the mean salary has risen over $10000 since 2011. Working as a laborer also offers the opportunity to learn other trades and further increase your earning potential.

PR Assistant

Brand management is an essential part of modern business. As a PR assistant, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving the public image of a company. Excellent communication and people skills are required, as well as knowledge on how to create and refine a brand. Good writing skills are a plus, as you’ll need to write press releases. Generally, you are required to have no more than a high school diploma, but a bachelor’s degree will make you more competitive. 

Dog Walker

Probably not the first job you would think of when it comes to good salaries, but the potential is there; people are busy, and they need their dogs to be walked. There is the obvious prerequisite of being good with dogs while also being very responsible. Dog walkers can make over $20 an hour, and there is also the potential for turning it into a business and hiring your own staff.
