Coming back from an injury can make you feel as though you are starting from scratch again. You may find that your body is stiff and that you feel as though all of your work was for nothing.
If this sounds like you, then there are things that you can do to try and come out on top again. Take a look below to find out more.
Stretch it Out

When you are recovering from an injury, you may end up being completely immobilized. The problem that comes with this is that you may end up experiencing static muscles, that stiffen over time.
Rather than giving your muscles a chance to break down, ask your doctor to see if there are any stretching exercises that you can do. Stretching is great because it allows your muscles to remain fit.
It can also help you to ease into being active when you have completed your recovery. If you have a foot injury, it may be worth checking out The Foot & Ankle Clinic, as they should be able to support you with your recovery.
Take Things Easy
When you are ready to get moving again, a great rule of thumb would be for you to do 20% less than what you feel as though you are able to do. If you have been out of action for quite some time, then you may want to do even less.
Either way, you have to remember just because you could run seven miles before your injury, doesn’t mean that you will be able to do that now. You have to take your time and you need to ease into it if possible.
Don’t Just Do Nothing
Doing nothing isn’t a great idea when it comes to your health. You have to make sure that you find a happy medium if you can. A gentle walk is quite possibly one of the best ways for you to get started and it also eases you back into your day-to-day activities.
Swimming is another fantastic option as it gives you a level of buoyancy. It also takes some of the pressure off your injured tissue, so that you can continue your workout. Whatever you do, you have to make sure that you listen to what your body is trying to tell you, and take lots of breaks.
Pain is a signal that you need to stop whatever you’re doing right away. When you take it easy, you’ll be able to see growth. This will help you to take things to the next level.
Ice and Heat
Depending on what your doctor recommends, it’s a good idea for you to use both ice and heat. The great thing about icing is that it helps to stop muscle soreness after you have worked out. It also helps to reduce swelling and it eases pain too.
Heat can be good if you have an older injury, depending on what it is. Just make sure that you talk with your doctor so that you can make sure that you aren’t making things worse.
